Bafana midfielder Dikgacoi believes the surprise replacements are worthy, ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic on SaturdayCrystal Palace and Bafana midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi believes that the absence of some senior members of the national team will not have any psychological effect on the players.
Dikgacoi said that the players are disappointed that captain Bongani Khumalo, Sboniso Gaxa and Katlego Mphela didn’t make the cut in Gordon Igesund’s squad, despite playing during the Afcon.
“Obviously we are disappointed that Khumalo, Mphela and Gaxa are not in the team, but that is not going to discourage us. We just have to look forward to the game,” said Dikgacoi.
Dikgacoi spoke well of the new players that have been called-up to replace the injured Siyabonga Sangweni and Tsepo Masilela, as well as those who will be joining the team as a result of reshuffling. He believes that those players have so much to offer to this country.
“Sangweni and Masilela are important to us as a team. Unfortunately, we just have to fight without them, but I think the players that they have been replaced with, Tebogo Langerman and a couple of others, are good players,” he said.
Bafana will take on the Central African Republic at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night, as they will be looking for their first win of the 2014 World Cup qualifier. Gordon Igesund’s men are third on the log with two points from two games.
