Orlando Pirates striker Collins Mbesuma told Goal.com that his side is still positive for the Champions League and PSLPirates and Zambia striker Mbesumais determined to challenge Chiefs on all fronts, after the disappointing derby stalemate.
“We are all eager to win, and we have the best players in the country, and the best coach as well. We are disappointed about Saturday’s game against Chiefs. Although we played good football and we created a lot of chances to score, it was just unfortunate that we couldn’t score,” said Mbesuma.
This coming Saturday, Orlando Pirates will be playing against a Zambian side, Zanaco in the Caf Championships League. Mbesuma said his side must be very alert.
“They are a good side with plenty of young quality players in their squad. Apart from that, their coach is very smart as well. We must be well alert and make sure that we utilize all the opportunities. I think they are not there because of luck and that is why they were able to win the Championship,” he said.
The striker also added that their hearts are still on the PSL title.
“We have not given up on the league. We are working hard and every player is very positive about winning the league. If we can put more effort and not make the silly mistakes then we can still win the league.
“The Kaizer Chiefs result might not have been what we were expecting, but we can be proud of ourselves that we played good football throughout the match. Our focus now is on the Caf Championship and the league. We will use this game as part of the learning experience as well and a way of gaining momentum for the PSL matches, when we return,” he said.
