Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela revealed that the players haven’t lost hope that the Brazilians will finish in the top eight at end the season, although they are currently 11th on the PSL log.
Mphela reflected back to their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Moroka Swallows last Tuesday, and believes that they did well against Swallows, considering the fact that they played with 10 men for close to an hour.
“We showed character, with 10 men, we managed to come back, and we had more ball possession. It is just a matter of us converting the chances, and I don’t see us not making the top eight,” said Mphela.
Sundowns will visit SuperSport United in a Tshwane derby this afternoon, and Mphela believes that decision making is vital in a derby match.
“Whoever is going to make clever decisions is going to win the game, and I am hopeful it’s going to be us,” revealed Mphela.
The 28-year-old Mphela will go into the Tshwane derby as Sundowns’ leading goalscorer with only three goals, and will be hoping to add to his tally by scoring against his former club SuperSport United.
