Former Pirates striker Jerry Sikhosana shared his thoughts on which players will star in Saturdays Soweto derby and his personal wishes
Sikhosana stresses that his wishes have nothing to do with the fact that he once played for Orlando Pirates, but he wants the title race to open up for the neutrals. That means the Bucs reducing Chiefs lead at the top.
“I think it would be exciting to see Pirates win, because that will make the league more challenging,” said Sikhosana.
Although his wishes are with Orlando Pirates, he said he will not be surprised to see Kaizer Chiefs defender, Morgan Gould getting a goal in this match.
“Pirates will have to keep a close eye on the Chiefs defender Morgan Gould, he has shown in the past what he is capable of doing when his team is attacking. Another defender that I think might get his name on the score sheet for Chiefs is Tefu Junaid Mashamaite,” said Sikhosana.
The legend said that despite Chiefs having an upper hand, because of their recent form, he believes that a player like Oupa Manyisa can bring "happy days back" for Orlando Pirates. The striker predicts a score of 2-1 in favour of Orlando Pirates.
“I can just only wish that Pirates win, though I know Chiefs have been doing well, but my prayers are with Pirates. Oupa Manyisa has the capability to score in tomorrow’s game. I know there are other players like Collins Mbesuma but I think it Manyisa that Chiefs needs to look out for,” he said.
Sikhosana also added that playing in the Soweto derby should be a privilege and an honour for the players.
“As much as it comes with lot of pressure, players should understand that there are a lot of players who wish to play in the derby. It should come as an honour and that is why they need to treasure every moment of it,” said Sikhosana.
