Steven Ncanana has finally left Chiefs after the two parties came to an agreement, and his agent Ali Tlhoahele confirmed that he is training with NFD's Rovers

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Steven Ncanana has officially left Amakhosi to pursue his career elsewhere, after both parties agreed to an undisclosed financial settlement.

Ncanana was deemed surplus to requirements at Chiefs, following the appointment of the new coach Stuart Baxter at the beginning of the season, but he couldn’t join any other team then, because he was still contracted to Chiefs. However, Ncanana’s agent Ali Tlhoahele has today, confirmed that the player is no longer with Chiefs after successful negotiations.

“He’s no longer a Chiefs player after we reached an agreement with Chiefs. Money was the problem from the beginning, because we wanted a settlement that will suit both parties,” said Tlhoahele.

He also confirmed that Ncanana is currently training with National First Division side Blackburn Rovers, after he was approached by their management.

“I was called by the Blackburn management to bring Ncanana. He has been training with them, and if they are happy with the boy, then we will negotiate,” he said.

While others will consider Ncanana’s move to the NFD as a step back, Tlhoahele revealed that the player just wants to get onto the field and play football, regardless of whether it is in the PSL or NFD.

“He just wants to play football, he doesn’t have a problem with playing for a NFD side. If you remember Ncanana jumped the stages, he was signed straight from the second division. He never played in the first division, and I think he needs to go back and get his confidence back,” explained Tlhoahele.
