Pitso Mosimane was not lost for words despite losing 1-0 to Moroka Swallows in a league match played at the Loftus Stadium on Tuesday night
Siyabonga Nomvete’s 37th minute penalty was enough to hand Swallows all three points against 10-men Sundowns, after Method Mwanjale got his marching orders in the process. Sundowns coach Mosimane said he couldn’t complain because his team dominated the possession until the final whistle.
“We controlled the game from the beginning to the end, what else do we want? We were just unfortunate with the penalty, and I think it was a penalty, but wonderful game, we controlled, Swallows was never (in control). We have a good team, 11 against 11, I would never lose this match, no way," said Mosimane.
The former Bafana coach believes that his team has got character, and he was impressed with the good performance and the display by the Brazilians against Swallows.
“What a team of character! We don’t sit back, we go on, we attack, we create more opportunities, what a team of character! It’s okay, we building up for next season, we accept the defeat, because I think it was a penalty,” he said.
Mosimane’s counterpart, Zeca Marques was equally impressed with Swallows’ performance, and he believes that his players were tactically disciplined against Sundowns.
“I thought it was a great tactical performance by our team. I thought the guys put their 'tekkies' onto the field, exactly what we wanted. We knew that we could break Sundowns down, and the penalty was a fair penalty, the sending off was fair, I mean it was one of those situations,” said Marques.
“We knew that against a 10-men team it is always difficult, but everyone had a gutsy performance, and I am proud of the guys today,” he added.
The win against Sundowns, moved Swallows up to 10th spot on the log, level on points with SuperSport United who are currently 8th, while the Brazilians slide down to 11th with 23 points from 20 games.
