Orlando Pirates sensation Sifiso Myeni told Goal.com how disappointed he is, that he will miss the Kaizer Chiefs derby on Saturday
“I so wanted to be part of that experience. I mean if we win on Wednesday, then the derby will be a cracker. It is going to be exciting because whoever wins will have one hand on the trophy and I wish I was part of that squad.
“I guess I will have to accept the situation and focus on nursing my injury,” said Myeni.
The midfielder who was shortlisted in the Bafana Afcon squad said his performance thus far in the second round has not been up to the level he strives toward.
“I feel I am just playing normal football at the moment. I know that I can still push myself more, but I think coming back from the injury had a negative impact on form. With the support that I am getting from the technical team and my teammates I think soon enough I will be the’ Myeni’ that everyone knows,” he said.
Myeni said the coach has told the rest of the team to stay focused on Wednesday's match against Celticfirst.
“The coach told the guys to play as if they are playing a cup final. He told them to stay focused and forget about Saturday’s game against Chiefs. I think they are all positive and the mood from our players is great,” said Myeni.
Myeni also added that when he makes his return he wants to win the league.
“The most important thing to me is working hard and once that is achieved, I think I will be able to take the team to greater heights. I know the team has not been doing well lately, but I still feel we have what it takes to win the league once again,” he said.
