2-1 Black Leopards

Two sublime strikes from Mandaza handed an unlikely victory to Maritzburg United on Sunday afternoon. The Team of Choice has struggled to regain their early season form and had not won a match since the 11th of December, until Mandaza changed their fortunes around and inflicted yet another loss on Black Leopards with a dramatic late show. The striker was impeccable throughout the proceedings on Sunday, as Maritzburg United searched for a way back into the game after falling a goal behind early in the first half. The pressure finally told as Mandaza netted a brilliant volley in the 84th minute, followed by an equally impressive curling effort two minutes later. The striker's goals may have reignited his team's season as they sit comfortably in 5th position on the PSL log, three points behind Free State Stars.

Congratulations to Terrence Mandaza's 20th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Simphiwe Tshabalala - Kaizer Chiefs

Last week's winner, Tshabalala was in irrepressible form once again for Chiefs, even though his side failed to find all three points against a determined Bidvest Wits. Shabba netted the AmaKhosi's equaliser and was a decisive force in attack throughout the match.

Lindokuhle Mbatha- Platinum Stars

With time running out for Dikwena Lucky Mbatha was on hand to score a late equaliser with a brilliant turn and cracking drive against AmaTuks on Sunday, as Platinum Stars secured an enthralling 2-2 draw at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
Lefa Tsutsulupa - Moroka Swallows

The Dube Birds' captain was one of the main reasons Zeca Marques' side was able to overcome a two goal deficit against Pirates last Tuesday, as the midfielder scored a goal and provided inspirational energy in the middle of the park which set up a dramatic comeback victory for Swallows.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
