Orlando Pirates will hope their trip to the Comoros yields a positive result as they search for answers to their recent defensive woesOrlando Pirates face Djabal FC in the Comoros on Saturday afternoon, with the Buccaneers holding a 5-0 advantage over the largely unknown force in their CAF Champions League preliminary tie.
In the first leg, Takesure Chinyama struck four times, with the injured Sifiso Myeni finding the net once against Pirates' preliminary round opponents.
Roger de Sa has insisted that Pirates will learn from their past mistakes and will not underestimate Djabal FC at home, despite the seemingly comfortable 5-0 cushion. Pirates will also be taking a slim squad to the Comoros due to injuries.
"We are leaving Oupa Manyisa behind as he has to rest given the number of matches he has played for us. [Sifiso] Myeni is out because of injury and Moeneeb [Josephs] is injured," De Sa said before travelling to the Comoros with his squad.
De Sa is concerned about the state of the pitch his team will be subjected to and whether or not the refereeing will be up to standard.
“My main worry is the refereeing as we know that can be such a big problem in Africa, but our match against Moroka Swallows was just an indication of what we could expect there.
“Judging from the performance, it seems like we are short of good referees here as only two matches were played on Tuesday.“Also I have been told that we will be playing on the astroturf pitch and I hope we will train on the surface before our match on the weekend."
