Only 10 days away, the Soweto Derby could prove to be a decisive fixture in determining who will walk away with the PSL title this season
The match may be sold out in record time, with only 6000 tickets remaining according to Amakhosi marketing director, Jessica Motaung.
"These are exciting times for us. I think this will probably be the fastest-selling Soweto derby between Chiefs and Pirates in terms of tickets. We are selling 87000 tickets and there is no doubt it will be a sold-out affair," Motaung told the Sowetan.
"The preparations are going well; we are delighted that people as far away as Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland are also talking about it.
"It is one hell of a fixture that gets South Africans and people on the continent talking, even our leaders in Parliament."
The global interest in the Soweto Derby has grown over the past decade, as an international audience has begun to tune into South Africa's showpiece football event.
"What makes us even more happy is that the derby matches are now televised globally, which is a great advert for SA soccer," Montuang said.
Motaung believes that the match will pave the way for Kaizer Chiefs to win the PSL title and the match has been called, "Moment of Glory" by the AmaKhosi. Chiefs currently sit two points ahead of Pirates and a victory for the hosts could be instrumental in their success this season.
"It will be a defining moment for us as Chiefs, it will bring us very close to realising our dream of winning the league," Motaung continued.
"We have been consistent in terms of topping the log and have no plans of relinquishing the position, We have to do it for our fans."
