AmaZulu defender Philani Cele is expected to make a comeback for AmaZulu when they play Temba Royals in the Nedbank Cup at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday
Cele has not touched a ball this year after a long term injury, ruling him out of PSL action for AmaZulu. Now the good news for Durban fans is that coach Craig Rosslee confirmed the player is available to play, but did not go into detail whether he will be in the starting line-up immediately.
“Cele is back and it is good to have him in our squad. As I have said before, we are going to give other players an opportunity to play. It not that we are taking our opponents for granted, but I believe this is the great opportunity for other players to get game time,” said Rosslee.
Cele’s return in the side will create a lot of competition since Willem Mwedihanga has been doing well in the defence.
“We will see how it goes, but the important factor here is that all the players are fit and it is good that we can have some options and variety as to who to play,” he said.
Another player who is expected a make a return in the squad after missing two PSL matches is Marc van Heerden. AmaZulu has a depth of quality players in their squad to test and give opportunities to. A player like Joseph Malongoane is one of the players that might reignite Usuthu's fire.
Despite the return of the two, it seems like Nyiko Tshabangu will miss out due to an injury that he got during the SuperSport match at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
