3-0 Bidvest Wits

A player who has been suffering from inconsistent form throughout the 2012/2013 season finally looked back to his best in attack during Kaizer Chiefs' rollicking 3-0 over Bidvest Wits on Saturday night. Tshabalala lost his place in the Bafana Bafana starting XI during the Africa Cup of Nations, despite his experience and known ability to turn games. Struggling from a lack of confidence, Shabba could not impress Gordon Igesund who preferred utilising Bernard Parker down the left flank during the tournament. The winger needed to prove he is still a force to be reckoned with in South Africa and his potent movement and passing were on show against Wits, as he provided two assists during the dominant victory in Polokwane. Tshabalala left the pitch with what looked like a thigh injury but it has been concluded that it was merely a slight knock. The Chief's winger will want to inspire his side to a league and cup double as the season continues.

Congratulations to Simphiwe Tshabalala's 19th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Lucky Mokoena- Maluti FET College

The Maluti FET College captain scored two sublime goals during one of the most remarkable underdog victories ever witnessed in South African football. Mokoena provided the perfect start for the amatuer side with an early strike, followed by a deft header which looped over Sifiso Myeni into the net, making the score 3-0.

Mashale Rantabane - Maluti FET College

A lecturer by day and a powerful defender by night, Rantabane scored two fantastic headers against Pirates during Maluti's incredible victory over the Buccaneers. He was also a part of the defensive line-up which kept Pirates down to a single goal in Qwaqwa, leaving the Buccaneer's fans with their heads in their hands.

Tebogo Langerman- Mamelodi Sundowns

While Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape looked content to settle matters in a penalty shoot-out during their Nedbank round of 32 tie, Langerman had other ideas and blasted home from range to secure a 1-0 for the Brazilians, a goal made possible by consistent Sundowns' pressure during extra-time.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
