AmaZulu’s right back Luyanda Hlongwa speaks to Goal.com about his progress at AmaZulu and his hopes in earning the jersey full time
Goal.com: Luyanda, you came to this team with experience, and what are your thoughts on your progress so far?
Hlongwa: We have been working very hard and I am sure that my presence is seen, and I will also try my best to deliver as the season progresses.
Goal.com: There were rumours that you should have joined Usuthu last season, how true is that?
Hlongwa: It is true, my move to AmaZulu was long overdue, as I have always wanted to play for them, and that is why I am more comfortable and happy now.
Goal.com: You seem to handle the pressure very well, at the back, what has been your secret?
Hlongwa: Pressure is not something that you just adapt to, but I think it boils down to team work. If we communicate well, with the rest of the players, then we are able to handle everything well. As an individual I think it is the commitment that I have to serve the team first before myself.
Goal.com: You have played for the two Free State teams in the PSL, what influence has that had on you?
Hlongwa: I have learnt a lot of things, of course every club has its own style of play, but the point is that football is the same. Every team that walks out there wants to win.
Goal.com: You have pulled superb performances lately, what has been your greatest motivation?
Hlongwa: Whenever I play, I always remember that there are people who look up to me. In this way I ensure that I give my best so that I remain a role model to them.
