Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Free State Stars

Parker shot to the top of the PSL goal scorers list this weekend after finding a late winner for Kaizer Chiefs against Free State Stars on Saturday night. Earlier in the week the striker did not shine against Mamelodi Sundowns during Tuesday's 0-0 draw, but was the decisive force when the chips were down for Chiefs as they trailed 1-0 late in the second half against Stars. Parker, known for his stamina and inexhaustible resilience on the pitch, was fortunate to gain an assist as his mis-timed shot fell perfectly for Reneilwe Letsholonyane to head home. Parker was on-target and scored with a composed effort late on in order to seal Chief's comeback victory. During a title race which rest on a knife edge, every point is vital for the current league leaders and Parker's performance could be a decisive moment of the season.

Congratulations to Bernard Parker  Goal.com's 18th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Teko Modise- South Africa

Sundowns' Teko Modise produced a sturdy performance against Maritzburg United on Friday. He continued where he left off against Chiefs in
mid-week and for that he was named man of the match. His passes and distribution were instrumental in Sundowns 3-0 victory, who now find themselves in the top half of the PSL log. Modise was left out of the South African squad for the Afcon, and seems to be pulling up his socks to prove that he deserves a call-up for the World Cup qualifiers.

Thuso Phala - South Africa

Phala was magnificent during Platinum Stars' 3-0 hammering of Ajax Cape Town, displaying all the strengths we possess as a footballer by utilising his pace and power in the final third. Phala scored the third and final goal of the match while playing a role in the other two goals scored by his high-flying side.
Masibusane Zongo- Chippa United

Zongo will remember his goal against Black Leopards on Sunday afternoon for a long time. The 22-year-old troubled Leopard's defence all afternoon but his unstoppable curling effort in the 37th minute sent the home fans into a fervour and inspired Chippa to secure a vital 3-1 win over relegation rivals Black Leopards.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
