Mbesuma, who was part of the Zambian team that failed to defend their Afcon trophy or even reach the knockout round, said that his focus turns to the PSL and Caf ChampionsLeague. He aims to inspire Pirates to victory against Supersport United on Wednesday.
“The Afcon is now over, and our focus is on our duties at club level. We have an important game on Wednesday and on the weekend, so, all attention is now shifted to those matches,” said Mbesuma on Pirates’ official website.
The 29-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns marksman, admitted that he wants to use the experience of playing in the Africa Cup of Nations to guide them to their first Caf gold medal since 1995.
“Although our immediate focus is the match on Wednesday evening against SuperSport United, personally, I cannot wait to play in the Champions League. It is a massive match for me and I hope to use the experience I gained from playing in the Afcon,” he said.
