Pirates to resume second half of the PSL season without their Afcon stars

Orlando Pirates fans should not expect to see their Bafana players when the PSL defending champions take on Supersport United next Wednesday
A member of a technical team at Orlando Pirates told Goal.com that the bulk of their players who took part in this year’s Afcon may not feature against Supersport United next Wednesday.

Pirates will be looking for maximum points against United, as they are determined to dethrone their closest rivals, Kaizer Chiefs at the summit. However they will have to do that without Oupa Manyisa, Thabo Matlaba and Senzo Meyiwa.

“All Bafana players could be rested against SuperSport United. We have been using other players in our training sessions to prepare for that game, they are unlikely to play but only the coach (Roger De Sa) could decide whether to use them,” he said.

However, Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma could be given a run against Matsatsantsa, having reported earlier to the camp than the rest of Bafana players.

Good news for Pirates fans, though is that they will have their full squad for their Caf Champions League match against Djabal FC on February 16.
“Mbesuma should play, as he’s been training with the rest of the team for some time now. But all the players should be back for our Caf match next weekend,” he said.
