Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has told Goal.com that his club did not need a major signing during the January transfer window that closed on Thursday

Even if Kaizer Chiefs have injuries and suspensions in the second round of the PSL season, football manager Bobby Motaung is positive that the current squad will cope.

The Amakhosi had Morgan Gould, Jimmy Jambo and Jimmy Tau injured last year, but Motaung believes that their defence needed no reinforcement this January.

“Our coach (Stuart Baxter) is happy with the current squad. We sat down with the whole technical team and reached an agreement that we won’t be signing any big name player,” said Motaung.

Bobby Motaung revealed to Goal.com that the team is also happy to have the most players in the national team for the 2013 Afcon, and believes that these players will add value and experience to the Amakhosi, once the tournament is over.

Motaung is not concerned about the fitness of the players, nor the possibility of them getting injured or fatigued while representing Bafana.

“Our technical team will deal with their fitness, but I know that they will add value once they are back. We are not worried about injuries, let them represent the national team like warriors,” he said.

Chiefs are top of the log with 35 points after 16 games, and Motaung believes that the current squad has the ability to win the league for the first time since 2005.

“We have done well in the first round and we all believe in the current players. We know that they will deliver this league trophy to Naturena come May,” said Motaung.
