Chippa United’s media officer Lukanyo Mzinzi confirmed to Goal.com South Africa that they are seriously working hard to get Mabizela in their books.
"We are so close to signing him, but I will say we are now sitting at a 80% chance and soon enough he will officially be our player,” said Mzinzi.
Up to today Mabizela is still one of the most talented players that this country has ever produced but his behaviour outside the field has delayed his progress. Mzinzi said that dealing with the player will not be a problem and that management is ready to handle this challenge.
“I think Mabizela doesn’t have any problems as such. The only thing that he wants is to play and the minute you don’t play him, that is when trouble might come in,” he said.
Mzinzi also believes that having the player will be a bonus to his team as he brings in vast experience.
“He is an experienced player but most importantly he is a great leader. Having him around will be a great motivation to the players and I believe he will add much value in the team,” he added.
Another player that Mzinzi confirmed they are interested in and it is just a matter of time before he signs is Moroka Swallows striker Phumelele Bhengu. Mzinzi said the only reason they opted for Bhengu is simply because they wanted a goalscorer.
“There is a thin line between a striker and a goal scorer and Bhengu is a goal scorer because once he is in the box he doesn’t disappoint. He is a young, great player with a positive attitude and so I hope having him around will most definitely take the club elsewhere,” he said.
Both Bhengu and Mabizela played for the national under-23 team and that to Mzinzi should work to their advantage.
"It is always great bringing players with national exposure as well, because they bring in a new vibe in the club. We are hoping that both players will have a significant role to play in our club," said Mzinzi.
