thumbnail Hello,

Just a handful of SA stars in European action this weekend as most are already on winter break

There will be big interest from the Bafana Bafana camp this weekend to see whether Thulani Serero gets any game time for Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday.

Serero has played just over 110 minutes of reserve football since his return from a groin injury, but has yet to feature for the first-team.

Sunday’s match against Utrecht will be his final opportunity before joining up with the Bafana camp in Johannesburg on December 27.

Kamohelo Mokotjo could also get more game-time for Feyenoord at home to Groningen after playing his first minutes of the season last week.
If Anele Ngcongca’s Genk are to have any hope of winning the title this season they will have to get a win over leaders Anderlecht on Sunday.

Genk currently trail Anderlecht by 11 points in the title race and anything but a win would make it highly unlikely they would be able to reel them in during the remainder of the campaign.

Ayanda Patosi and Darren Keet will come head-to-head in the Belgian League on Friday night when Lokeren travel to Kortrijk.

Both sides have seen a dip in form in recent weeks and will be desperate for a win to get their top six hopes back on track. Kortijk’s form has been so poor recently that their fans held the team bus hostage after last weekend’s loss to Waasland-Beveren.

Former Bafana Bafana skipper Steven Pienaar will return to London when his Everton side travel to Upton Park to take on West Ham United on Saturday.

Everton have fallen out of the top four following their 1-1 draw at Stoke City last weekend and will be eager to return to winning ways against a side they have traditionally done well against.

In the Championship, Kagisho Dikgacoi’s Crystal Palace host strugglers Huddersfield Town, who are without a win in their last six league matches.

Palace are currently two points behind leaders Cardiff City and could be top at Christmas with a win.

Dean Furman’s Oldham Athletic take on Yeovil Town in League One, seeking to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
