Veteran midfielder could be key man for Chippa as they seek to end Pitso Mosimane’s unbeaten runBrent Carelse is likely to have recovered from his hamstring injury and will line up tomorrow night for Chippa United against his former club Mamelodi Sundowns in Cape Town
Owner Siviwe Mpengesi said Carelse had a good chance to be fit for the match at the Athlone Stadium which presents both sides with a chance to close the year on a positive note.
Chippa will be looking for only their third win of their debut season in the top flight while Sundowns seek to continue their rehabilitation under new coach Pitso Mosimane.
Carelse has missed the last two matches for the club at Pretoria University and home to AmaZulu on Saturday. He pulled a muscle in the 0-0 draw with champions Orlando Pirates on December 5.
Carelse, 31, spent 18 months at Sundowns, during which time he helped them to their last title triumph in 2007. He was then traded to SuperSport United, in the deal that took Katlego Mphela and Siboniso Gaxa to Sundowns, and later returned to Cape Town to play at Ajax Cape Town.
Chippa United are hoping to have the international clearance certificate for striker Wilko Risser processed by kick off tomorrow. The Namibia international has signed for the rest of the season and coach Farouk Abrahams is keen to use him as a target man for the clash against the Brazilians.
