0-1 Platinum Stars

Henrico Botes has been a leading figure during Platinum Stars four match unbeaten run, scoring his sixth of the season in only 11 starts against SuperSport United with a well-taken penalty kick. Following Chiefs' draw against AmaTuks, Platinum Stars had an opportunity to win the Q2 Innovation prize of 1.2 million Rand and Botes held his nerve to bury his penalty kick against SuperSport United on Saturday evening. The goal not only guaranteed Platinum Stars' dominance of the second quarter of the PSL season, but also kept them in with a chance to overcome Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the table, as they sit only one point behind the AmaKhosi. Botes has scored some important goals this season, but the significance of his penalty kick and his excellent run of form earns him the tile of South Africa Player of the Week.

Congratulations to Henrico Botes,'s 11th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Katlego Mphela– Mamelodi Sundowns

Mphela is trying to prove he is fit and ready for Bafana Bafana as he scored another vital goal for Mamelodi Sundowns, with a second half strike against Wits University which sees the Brazilians continue their resurgence under Pitso Mosimane. Sundowns are unbeaten in their last five outings and have moved up to tenth on the table.

Oupa Manyisa- Orlando Pirates

Manyisa and Andile Jali combined to secure a 2-1 win for the Buccaneers against a fighting Maritzburg United side. Manyisa was particularly impressive in the midfield, controlling play and scoring from close range with a powerful strike at the near post.
Letladi Madubanya– Bloemfontein Celtic

Madubanya scored the winner against Moroka Swallows, as Siwelele came from behind once again to secure a 2-1 win over the struggling Dube Birds. Madubanya scored a powerful header following Lerato Manzini's equaliser, as Celtic move to seventh on the table.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
