Bafana Bafana players arrive back at league leaders Chiefs with knocks but now have chance to rest

Kaizer Chiefs will be grateful for a rare weekend off to allow key players to recover from knocks ahead of their midweek meeting with Moroka Swallows
Top scorer Bernard Parker and leading winger Siphiwe Tshabalala both had injuries when they returned from international duty in midweek but now have time to get ready to return to club duty.

Parker went off at half-time of South Africa’s defeat to Zambia with a knock while Tshabalala did not play in the match at Soccer city because of an ankle complaint.

Tshabalala told reporters he did not play “as a precautionary measure” after suffering a knock in training the day before the game, which Bafana Bafana lost 0-1.

Chiefs also had goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and Reneilwe Letsholonyane in the match while defender Siboniso Gaxa was in the squad but did not play. Midfielder Letsholonyane came on as a second half substitute.

Unbeaten Chiefs take on Swallows in the Premier Soccer League on Tuesday at Soccer City. Both are not playing at the weekend after being knocked out in the first round of the Telkom Knockout last month.
