Stars coach Komphela has selection headache ahead of semi

A myriad of choice for the Free State Stars coach ahead of cup semifinal

Free State Stars might have lost in the league at the weekend but coach Steve Komphela hailed a positive showing and says he now faces a selection dilemma as they prepare for cup action on the weekend.

Stars were beaten 1-0 by champions Orlando Pirates on Saturday without two key players – Paulus Masehe and Dove Wome, both suspended for the away match at the Orlando Stadium after an accumulation of cautions

In their stead the likes of Coldrin Coetzee, playing his first game of the season, and Enver Wiltwer produced strong showings in a battle that the Buccaneers just shaded.

“I think we coped well in midfield. We did not have any serious problems, Coetzee did well in his first outing and Wiltwer did a good job for us,” said Komphela.

“But I’m also happy Paulus and Wome will be back,” he said with an eye on Sunday’s Telkom Knockout semifinal against Bloemfontein Celtic in Phuthaditjhaba.

“I think Paulus is a quality midfielder, the most underrated in the whole league.

“I have a headache now about who to pick for the next match.”
