Kermit Erasmus displayed his speed and superb technique against Maritzburg United during SuperSport United's 2-0 Telkom Knockout cup victory. The striker was the main creative force behind the majority of Matsatsantsa attacks, often leaving defenders in his wake with bursts of pace and mazey runs. His excellent vision set up the first goal for teammate Thabiso Nkoana. Erasmus capitalised on some space in the midfield and played a perfectly weighted and accurate through-ball to find Nkoana who chipped the ball over the keeper. SuperSport United will continue to rely on the forward's influence and will hope his form leads to more scintillating performances this season. Erasmus has been called up to play for Bafana Bafana once again as Gordon Igesund has noticed his performances for Matsatsantsa.

Congratulations to Kermit Erasmus, Goal.com's 5th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Ruzaigh Gamildien – Bloemfontein Celtic

Gamildien was one of the main instigators behind Bloemfontein Celtic's excellent comeback victory against Orlando Pirates which booked the side a place in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals. The player's dribbling skills and eye for goal were on show as he scored Celtic's second and was a threat throughout the classic clash.

Eleazar Rodgers - Mamelodi Sundowns

Eleazar Rodgers scored Mamelodi Sundowns opener against AmaZulu on Saturday and was a terrific force throughout the game which the Brazilians were eventually able to win 2-0. Rodgers will be hoping to score more important goals this season for the resurgent Sundowns side.

Daine Klate – Orlando Pirates

Daine Klate has to be mentioned due to his superb free-kick against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday. Klate was impressive throughout his time on the pitch for Pirates and his powerful, curving effort was unstoppable. In a game which was filled with potential goals of the season, Klate's strike is right up there with the best.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
