Norman Smith, signed by the recently departed Muhsin Ertugral, showed his experience and class scoring two vital goals for Golden Arrows against Chippa United on Saturday. The 30-year-old is a proven goalscorer in the PSL and his ability as a forward was once again on display in an important victory for Abafana Bes'thende. Smith had an excellent all-round game against Chippa, almost turning provider on multiple occasions. His first goal was a sumptuous lob any top-flight striker would be proud of and his second displayed the strikers good positioning as he latched onto a cross and buried the ball in the back of the net for an impressive two goal-tally. The striker has now scored three goals in four games, underlining his class and continued importance for Golden Arrows. New coach Manqaba Mngqithi will certainly see the forward as an integral part of Golden Arrows resurgence following their disappointing start to the PSL campaign.

Congratulations to Norman Smith, Goal.com's 4th South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Ronwen Williams – SuperSport United

The 20-year-old once again impressed in a weekend dominated by goalkeeping heroics. SuperSport, down to nine men and under immense pressure, had to rely on the young man's excellent form, as he not only kept out Wits with acrobatic and reflex saves, but also saved a vital penalty.

Katlego Mashego - Moroka Swallows

Mashego's two goals guaranteed a point for Swallows against Black Leopards, as the Dube Birds came from behind twice. Mashego continues to impress for Swallows and his 86th minute strike saved his side once again from the brink of defeat. He will be eyeing the PSL goalscoring top-spot this season.

Philani Zikalala – AmaZulu

Usuthu were able to hang on for a draw against a dominant Orlando Pirates side on Sunday, with their shot-stopper proving to be the difference. His vital saves kept a dangerous Buccaneers without a goal. Zikalala will focus on continuing this fine form as AmaZulu try to move up the PSL log.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
