Pretoria University 1-3 Orlando Pirates

Sifiso Myeni is named South Africa Player of the Week following his man of the match performance against AmaTuks where he showed his counter-attacking ability and fighting qualities. Myeni created both goals for Pirates striker Collins Mbesuma on Sunday, displaying his game-breaking ability with great pace and vision. He was one of the main reasons Pirates were able to come from behind and beat the PSL surprise package AmaTuks. Myeni fought hard throughout the match which was played in sweltering conditions at the Loftus Versveld Stadium. The right-winger has been selected for Bafana Bafana's two friendlies against Poland and Kenya, Gordon Igesund noticing the twenty-four-year-old's contributions to the Pirates cause this season.

Congratulations to Sifiso Myeni,'s 2nd South Africa Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Bradley Grobler – Ajax Cape Town

Named Ajax Cape Town's saviour following his goal against fellow league strugglers AmaZulu, Grobler showed his goal poaching ability, as he finished calmly securing the all important win for the Urban Warriors on Saturday. The young striker has not found the net on regular occasions this season and would see this winner as the start of things to come.

Katlego Mashego - Moroka Swallows

In a game completely dominated by Free State Stars, Mashego kept calm and slotted home a superb free kick for Swallows. The goal secured an unlikely win for Mashego's side. The player showed he is still a force to be reckoned with this season and will hope to continue scoring for his new club.

Sahmeeg Doutie – Supersport United

Doutie may not have played brilliantly throughout the 3 - 3 classic against Black Leopards on Sunday, but the player's 90th minute equaliser cannot be ignored. Supersport looked down and out trailing at the death of the match against a tough Leopards outfit. However Doutie did not give up and scored the equaliser maintaining his side's unbeaten start to the season.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by South Africa, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
