Moroka Swallows have completed the signing of winger Dikgang Mabalane, who brings pace and experience to their squad.
The 32-year-old was released by Orlando Pirates late last month after they failed to find a buyer for his services in the transfer window having put him up for sale.
Injuries meant that Mabalane has made just 28 starts in the past two seasons and despite having a year remaining on his Pirates contract, reached a settlement for his release.
Now the former Bafana Bafana international joins the over 30s club at Swallows, where he has done enough to impress coach Zeca Marques.
“We are not specifically looking for new players, I am very happy with the squad that I have got,” Marques said last week. “But when the opportunity comes along to look at a player with his experience then it is worthwhile giving it a go.”
Mabalane has signed a three-year contract with The Birds and will provide competition in the right-wing berth.
Nigerian winger Felix Obada is the current incumbent, with another veteran former Pirates player Joseph Makhanya in reserve.
Swallows were interested in signing Mabalane from Pirates back in June and had him on a short-list of new recruits for this coming season.
