Bafana Bafana left-back Tsepo Masilela must prove his fitness over the coming weeksBafana Bafana left-back Tsepo Masilela is back in training for Kaizer Chiefs but is still some way off making his debut for his new club.
Masilela moved to Naturena last month from Maccabi Haifa, a return to the PSL after some five years abroad playing in Israel and Spain.
But he joined with an injury sustained while on national team duty for Bafana against Ethiopia in early June, and then came down with an appendicitis.
But the 27-year-old is working his way back to full fitness and could feature for the AmaKhosi in the next month.
It would be a major boost for Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter, who has relied on the Zimbabwean Jimmy Jambo in the left-back position so far this season.
Although Jambo has performed well, he does not have the dynamism of Masilela going forward, which would add an extra attacking threat to the Chiefs line-up.
Masilela will hope that his return will see an end to the constant injury troubles that have plagued him for almost two years now.
He has had everything from knee trouble, to hamstring complaints, ankle injuries and now the appendicitis.
The niggles have prevented him from continuing his career in the Spanish La Liga, where he was a hit last season with Getafe.
