The Ajax Cape Town tactician is preparing to take his side to the Orlando Stadium to meet The Buccaneers in an Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday evening.
He says Pirates appear to have ditched the long-ball game they employed under former boss Augusto Palacios for more of a passing style that is similar to how BidVest Wits played under De Sa last season.
“We saw already in their game against Platinum Stars on Saturday that Pirates will play a little different under Roger,” Stekelenburg says. “They will pass the ball more, keep it more within the team. Under Palacios they played a lot of long balls.
“Roger only had a few days to work with the team last week and so by the time we play them on Tuesday they will be even more organised about how they will play.
“For us right now, it is a little bit of a guess as to who will play for them. Roger likes to play more of a possession game and he made some changes to the usual starting line-up for the Stars match. He has a lot of options because he has such a big squad.”
Stekelenburg says he hopes his side can capitalize on the pressure that De Sa and his team will undoubtedly feel on Tuesday.
“It will be a first home game for Roger so they will want a good result in front of their own fans. We are feeling confident, we played quite a good game in Bloemfontein on Sunday, even though we lost. We gave up two goals because of mistakes, but I was happy with how the team performed.”
