AmaTuks have gained five points from their first three games, and lie fifth in the Premier Soccer League standings. They beat Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 away and drew at home with Maritzburg United and neighbours SuperSport United.
They face a tough examination away against last season’s runners-up Moroka Swallows on Friday.
“I’m not that surprised,” said Barker in the build-up to the game at the Dobsonville Stadium.
“We got our house in order before the start of the season and put a strong squad together. We also worked very hard in the pre-season build up. We added a lot of experience to the line-up.
“Obviously I’m aware that it is still very early in the season and we cannot get ahead of ourselves but it has been satisfying so far,” he told Goal.com.
AmaTuks are in their debut season in the top flight. After the encounter with Swallows they play Platinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town, who both finished outside the top eight last season.
Their first match with one the top clubs in the country will come at home to Orlando Pirates on October 7.
