Next month South Africa will play two away matches as they continue their preparations ahead of next January’s African Nations Cup finals
Bafana Bafana travel to the Zdzislaw Krzyszkowiaka Stadium in Bydgoszcz on October 12. The game will kick off at 20h45 local time. Poland last played in Bydgoszcz in 2009 when they beat Canada by a single goal in a friendly match.
But the home nation has won just five of their previous 11 internationals they have staged at the 20,247-seater stadium. It was not one of the venues for the recent Euro-2012 Championships. The city is some four hours away from the capital Warsaw.
The South African Football Association (Safa) have also been negotiating a match in the Middle East on October 16 but are yet to make a decision on two separate offers. They are hoping for a game either in Dubai or Qatar on their way back from Poland. A decision is expected soon.
Safa have already confirmed a November 14 date with reigning African champions Zambia. The two countries will contest the Nelson Mandela Challenge but a venue has yet to be decided.
In total Safa planned seven warm up games for Bafana to prepare for the Nations Cup.
This includes the narrow 1-0 loss to Brazil in Sao Paulo last Friday, and Tuesday’s friendly against Mozambique in Nelspruit.
