Goal speaks exclusively to Luvuyo Kelepu who has signed for NFD side FC Cape Town from Orlando PiratesThe former Orlando Pirates defender Kelepu has arrived in Cape Town, where he is trying to rebuild his career in the NFD before making the step back to the PSL.
“I’ve signed with the team and it was not easy for me because I was playing for Orlando Pirates. It was tough there, because I wasn’t getting game time and I’m here at FC Cape Town looking to work hard and become a regular in the team," Kelepu told Goal.
The central defender who can also play in midfield, initially made his move from Carara Kicks to Orlando Pirates before making his way to the Mother City to join the African Beasts. Recalling his time spent at Pirates, he explains, “It was nice to be there, I’ve learnt a lot there, that’s why I decided it was time to leave. I felt it was the right time to go out there and show everyone that I’m ready to play in the PSL and in Europe. Coach Roger de Sa and the technical staff taught me a lot of things, that’s why I believe I’m ready," he added to Goal.
Taking a glimpse into the future, he sees himself back in the PSL next season, if not in Europe. He added that the expectations are high from coach Duncan Lechesa and that he needs to work hard in order to help the team. Kelepu has been self-motivated and says that maybe it was not his time yet and that his chance in the top league will come.
“Thanks for supporting me, because it’s not easy but I’m a fighter and I never look down. I’m here to help save the team and who knows, we could possibly go to the play offs and I’ll be back in the PSL next season,” Kelepu concluded.
