Anigo: If I had to pick Drogba or Ibrahimovic, I'd pick Drogba
The Marseille sporting director was blunt in his assessment of the PSG star, and insisted that the Provence giants have seen better strikers in his time
Olympique de Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has stoked the fire ahead of the clash against fierce rivals Paris Saint-Germain by saying that he has not been impressed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.Anigo's side sit atop of the Ligue 1 standings with 18 points out of the 21 available so far, with les Parisiens a further three points adrift. The winner on Sunday, would stay top of the standings after the eighth round of matches.
However, Anigo – who coached les Phoceens between 2001 and 2005 – guiding them to their last European final in 2004, played down Ibrahimovic's impact on French football, despite the Swedish star's goalscoring form in France.
"It is not as [if he is] the best the league has ever seen. We had [Enzo] Francescoli, [Dragan] Stojkovic, and [Didier] Drogba!" the 51-year-old told Sport365.
"If you give me the choice between Drogba and Zlatan, for many reasons, I [will pick] Didier, even at his age."
Marseille host PSG at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday, kick-off is at 21:00CET.
