thumbnail Hello,

The Nerazzurri supremo has revealed they are keen to sign the former Barca youngster, and has laughed off reports that Javier Zanetti could retire this season

Inter president Massimo Moratti has admitted they are interested in signing Sampdoria youngster Mauro Icardi and hopes to lure the Argentine attacker to the Giuseppe Meazza in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old is one of the revelations of the 2012-13 campaign and has already netted eight goals in 20 Serie A appearances for the Blucerchiati, thus earning himself the interest of a number of European top clubs.

"Icardi could be one of our reinforcements if we reach an agreement with Sampdoria," Moratti was quoted as saying by Tuttosport.

"He will not come here to deputise for Diego Milito, though. I could see Icardi doing very well at Inter."

The Nerazzurri supremo then went on to dismiss reports that Javier Zanetti could hang up his boots at the end of the season.

He added: "Will Zanetti retire? No! He's still an energetic youngster. Have you seen him run ... Can you imagine him hanging up his boots? He will continue."

The 39-year-old's contract with Inter expires at the end of the season.
