Stramaccioni: Torino draw a missed chance for Inter
The young coach feels that 2-2 was a fair result, but was disappointed with a point nonetheless as he believes they missed a chance to close the gap on their rivals
Andrea Stramaccioni feels that Inter have missed a chance to put the pressure on Juventus, Napoli and Lazio by only drawing 2-2 with Torino.Cristian Chivu gave the Nerazzurri an early lead, but a Riccardo Meggiorini double then saw them fall 2-1 behind, only for Esteban Cambiasso to restore parity again halfway through the second half.
"Perhaps a draw is the fairest result, but we're still disappointed about it as we missed a chance to narrow the gap," he said at a press conference.
"We started out really well and our aim was to keep Torino from playing the game they wanted to play. We went ahead but then they were playing better than we were, although I don’t think they created more.
"Then came a collective error on our part. After we went down 1-2, we were playing our best, but we gave too much space to Torino by trying to win the match."
Inter currently sit fourth in Serie A, trailing leaders Juventus by nine points.
