thumbnail Hello,

The Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper has courted the interest of the Catalan giants and the former Germany international 'keeper says he can replace Victor Valdes

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann believes that fellow countryman Marc-Andre ter Stegen is capable of replacing current No.1 at Barcelona Victor Valdes.

Recently, the Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper, 21, has been linked with the Blaugrana following Valdes' decision to quit the club at the end of the season.

Barca have said they are interested in the Gladbach No.1 as well as Pepe Reina, who is currently on loan at Napoli from Liverpool, and Lehmann says Ter Stegen could be a good fit for Gerardo Martino's side despite lacking experience.

“Ter Stegen would be a great keeper for Barcelona” the 44-year-old said to Marca.

“Yes, he lacks experience. For example, he won’t go to the World Cup compared to [Manuel] Neuer, [Rene] Adler and [Roman] Weidenlfeller.

“However, the Spanish league is very adaptable and Barcelona’s game could do very well for him. I can see him playing there rather than in the Premier League.”

Ter Stegen, whose contract ends in June 2015, has started all 13 league games for fourth-placed Gladbach this season.
