The flamboyant trainer was hopeful of causing an upset, but was forced to admit that his side were no match for the Bundesliga leaders
Bastian Schweinsteiger gifted Bayern the lead in the opening 45 minutes, before Mario Mandzukic netted twice after the interval to put the match to bed, and Magath has conceded that the table-toppers were simply too strong for his men.
"I hoped Bayern might not take us seriously after all their recent good performances. But my hopes were dashed straight away," Magath stated at a press conference.
"Bayern immediately put us under pressure and played good football. We have to accept that Bayern are too good for us at the moment."
Bayern sit atop of the Bundesliga table with 15 points from five games, while Wolfsburg have to settle for 10th place for now.
