The Spain international has spoken on how much the Blaugrana will miss their on-field leader's presence, although he and goal-scorer Cesc Fabregas are content with their winBarcelona forward Pedro has lamented the injury suffered by Carles Puyol during his team's 2-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old has been confirmed as having dislocated his elbow, after landing awkwardly during the second half of the Blaugrana's Group G victory.
"It really hurts for Puyol," Pedro sighed to Bein Sport. "It hurts us. We are very disappointed to have lost him, because he is an important player."
Pedro nevertheless took comfort from seizing an important victory at Estadio da Luz, which was a trying encounter for last season's Primera Liga's runners-up.
"We did well tonight, it was a big win against a difficult rival," concluded the attacker.
Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas made known his satisfaction over his personal displays, saying that he feels there would continue to be room for improvement as the season went by.
"On a personal level, I am very happy, it has gone well this year," the 25-year-old remarked. "We must continue to work hard and keep the right mindset."
"We played on a difficult pitch, and had more control over the game after the second goal. This is only the beginning of the season and we can still improve."
