The Tunisia Football Federation has confirmed the appointment of Belgian Georges Leekens as new head coach of the national team.
The 64-year-old former Belgium manager agreed to a two-year deal and has been tasked with qualifying the outfit to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco.
The Carthage Eagles were left without a head coach following the resignation of Nabil Maaloul and the stepping down of interim coach Ruud Krol last December.
Frenchman Jacques Santini, Paul Le Guen and Herve Renard were also vying for the job.
Leekens played with Belgium as a defender before coaching the team twice, between 1997 – 1999 and 2010 – 2012. He also had a short spell in Algeria in 2003.
