Abdullahi: Nigeria are ready for Burkina Faso
The sports minister is convinced the Super Eagles will lift the trophy for the first time since 1994
Sports Minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi is confident Nigeria will defeat Burkina Faso on Sunday and win the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles last won the competition back in 1994, but the official told Goal.com that after observing a training camp on Thursday night in Johannesburg, he is convinced they will emerge victorious.
“They are raring to go. The mood and spirit in Eagles camp was electrifying and great. This team will surely deliver after what I saw yesterday. The players were in joyful mood, dancing and singing that night. I am confident of victory on Sunday,” he said.
Abdullahi also allayed fears regarding injury concerns over Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses, with the pair doubts for Sunday's showpiece.
“I met the medical team on the injury cases of Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike and with what I saw it wasn’t a bad situation. Hopefully they will be good enough to play on Sunday,” he added.
