thumbnail Hello,

After eliminating Bafana Bafana on Saturday, Mali captain Seydou Keita is confident that his team has what it takes to win the Afcon

“This was the most challenging match (against Bafana) that we have played in this tournament and a true test for us. I think there is nothing holding us back to advance all the way to the finals. Playing with a host country is always challenging, because it is you against them and their fans as well,” said Keita.

Although Bafana seemed dominant in the first half, Keita said he knew that they were going to come back strong during the second half.

“We have always had a game plan and we knew that if we take the game to the penalties there are greater chances of winning.

“Our goalkeeper is a specialist in saving penalties, so we had high hope and confidence in him. Having said so I must also say that the game was not easy, Bafana gave us a great run, but unfortunately there could only be one winner at the end of the day,” he said.

“We are not going to change any strategies, but we are just going to continue playing our type of football that we know. We believe in ourselves and we hope that this will also make our fans back home proud of us,” he said.
