Hunt: Gordon must keep his offensive style for Bafana against Mali spoke with Supersport United coach Gavin Hunt, who believes Bafana can beat Mali if they keep playing offensive football that was successful in the last two matches
SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has told that Bafana Bafana need to be positive if they are to beat Mali in Saturday night's clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Hunt, who was once tipped to take over as Bafana coach, believes that Igesund has done well, but was most impressed with their last two games in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Gordon mustn’t try to be defensive. Mali can be dangerous if you give them a lot of respect. The last two games were impressive. Bafana must keep going,” said Hunt.
The SuperSport United mentor does not believe that Mali would finish Bafana off, if Igesund’s defence will be as vulnerable as it was against Morocco in the previous match.
“I don’t think that will be a problem, the team has been playing well, from the goalkeeper to the strikers. Our defence has managed two clean sheets so far and that is great,” he said.
Bafana will be hoping to reach the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since the 2000 edition which was hosted jointly by Ghana and Nigeria.
Tonight’s clash will be a replay of the 2002 Afcon quarterfinals when Mali beat Bafana 2-0.
