The Black Stars' man on the touchline is expecting his players to go an extra mile to ensure qualification to the semi-finals
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has urged his players to step up their fighting spirit as they prepare to play the first quarter-final game at 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.
The Black Stars will face the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in what seems to be an interesting fixture at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
The last time the two sides met was in an international friendly match in Portugal where Ghana beat the Islanders by a lone goal.
Appiah is, however, cautioning his players to tread cautiously to avoid lost of concentration..
“I have drawn their [players] attention to the fact that Cape Verde can be a threat and it is important that they all focus on them and take each game as it comes,” the former Ghana international told Ghanafa.org.“We need to do extra work and the players need to fight more than what they’ve done already,” he added.
