Maccabi Tel Aviv and Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is not having any sleepless nights after it was confirmed that his side will play The Elephants in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Enyeama told Goal.com that Nigeria expected to face tougher opponents as they progress through different stages of the tournament.
“Ivory Coast? Well that is going to be a cracker, but we are not afraid of them. Actually, we expected to face tougher opponents,” said Enyeama.
The Israeli-based stopper believes that the Elaphants should be worried about facing the Super Eagles so early in the tournament.
“They should be worried about playing Nigeria, but we are not worried about them,” he said.
Nigeria failed to dominate Group C, and could only manage second spot behind leaders Burkina Faso. Enyeama doesn’t read too much into the group stage.
He added: “Football has really developed in Africa. I mean, you not going to see a 5-0 scoreline anymore.”
