Ethiopians happy to be underdogs against the Super Eagles in tonight’s do or die clash in the 2013 Afcon visited the Ethiopian camp and spoke with the team’s PRO Berhanu, ahead of their match against Nigeria at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium
The Ethiopian national team has been working hard at preparation for their do or die clash against Nigeria on Tuesday night.

Berhanu has told that they are ready for a challenge despite admitting that the Nigerians are the favourites to win tonight’s match.

“I think we are prepared. We will like to play as well as possible. I mean everyone knows that we are underdogs but we are happy with that,” said Berhanu.

The Walya Antelopes are very much aware that they can qualify if they beat Nigeria and Zambia fail get maximum points against Burkina Faso in the other match played at the same time in Group C.

“In football everything is possible. We know that there is still a chance for us to reach the quarterfinals if we beat Nigeria but we still have to rely on other teams’ results,” he said.

After their lengthy absence of 31 years in the Afcon tournament, Ethiopia want to at least reach the second round of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

“We have set ourselves a target of at least reaching the quarterfinals. We have been out of the tournament for over three decades, so the quarterfinals are more realistic than trying to win the trophy,” added Berhanu.
