Oldham captain Furman proud of his club knocking out Liverpool in the FA Cup
Bafana midfielder Dean Furman told Goal.com that he was overjoyed Oldham had beaten Liverpool at the same time of South Africa's progress
After helping Bafana reach the quarterfinals, club captain Furman heard that his team Oldham had beaten Liverpool 3-2 in the FA Cup on Sunday
“I am the happiest player, and tonight I should probably go out and celebrate as my country and my club performed so well.”
Furman told Goal.com immediately after the Morocco match that he had faith in his clubs players to impress without him.
“I knew that my teammates were going to pull a good fight and they did just that. There is no better way that I could have asked to start my year than this. I am hoping that I will get an opportunity to celebrate for their victory,” said Furman.
“As much as I was focusing on Bafana, I was well alert of what was happening with my club. I think this is great for the players and I am sure they are as excited as I am,” he said.
The 24-year old South African born player also said that he was proud of the effort shown by his South African teammates to come from behind twice to draw with Morocco.
“Well, each games different and it is always going to be good to come across those challenges because they help you to grow. For me the tournament has been great so far and I am learning in each and every game that I play,” he said.
