Bafana stars Kagisho Dikgacoi and Lerato Chabangu are ruled out of tomorrows crunch game against Angola in Durban
Coach Gordon Igesund said his players need to fight and stop being afraid of failure, despite the injuries.
“This is not a time to be scared. Our players need to understand that they are professional footballers. We need to go out there and be dominant. We need to take charge and the opposition must dance to our music,” he said.
Having said so Igesund also stressed that injuries of Kagisho Dikgacoi and Lerato Chabangu will not distract his plans for tomorrow. Chabangu suffers a groin injury, whilst Dikgacoi has a knee injury. Both players will not even be on the bench tomorrow.
“It’s disappointing to lose players due to injuries but we have to look at the positive side. This will give some other players an opportunity to play and those players must grab the opportunity with both hands,” said Igesund.
The issue of goals is still a concern for the national team and there has been lot of negative criticism with the coach being defensive. These injuries might give players like Dean Furman and Thulani Serero an opportunity to start. Both players bring a mixture of creativity and attacking football.
“People can expect a totally different game, as much as I wouldn't like to reveal my team now, but I can promise that it will all be attacking. We want to go back into playing our entertaining football and that will surely get us the points that we need,” he said.
