thumbnail Hello,

Katlego Mphela is on the bench, as Gordon Igesund has revealed his hand for the opening match of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa coach Gordon Igesund said he had a few surprises up his sleeve, and his starting eleven has certainly surprised with Bernard Parker and Lehlohonolo Majoro chosen upfront.

Some might wonder why Katlego Mphela was placed on the bench, but Igesund is banking on the partnership of the Kaizer Chiefs duo. His squad hasn't had enough time to gel, so it makes sense to start with players who train everyday together in Soweto.

In the midfield Dean Furman also doesn't make the team, as he's opted for Reneilwe Letsholonyane in midfield. Perhaps Igesund might use the more defensive minded Furman with Kagisho Dikgacoi when Bafana take on the better teams.

Here's the full starting line-up: Khune, Matlaba, Ngcongca, Sangweni, Khumalo, Phala, Letsholonyane, Dikgacoi, Tshabalala, Parker, Majoro.
