Khoabane: Matlaba's creativity can win Bafana the 2013 Afcon
Former SuperSport United defender Peter Khoabane believes that the creativity that Thabo Matlaba possesses can win Bafana the Afcon
Former SuperSport United football club defender, Peter Khoabane who is now a media liaison officer for the South African Players Union says Bafana must be creative if they want to do well.“There is no time to mourn about who is not there, but what is left is for the players to go out there and be creative. Goals are created through creativity and that is what I feel our players are lacking,” said Khoabane.
However he did admit that players like Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala can produce what he would love to see (creativity).
“I think we need to give credit to these guys, they are very gifted and I believe that they have worked hard to be where they are now,” he said.
“A player like Matlaba is out of this world, and I would have loved to see him inside the park more often. I mean the player possesses so much creativity and with that he can help the team to advance to the finals,” he added.
Khoabane said players must be mentally fit on Saturday because that is where they will be tested mainly.
“No matter how talented you are but if you are not used to playing at that level, stage fright might knock you down. I think that is where experience will come in. The only thing that the coach can do at this stage is just to tell his players to go out there and have fun.
“This may not make sense to others, but it will help the players to stay calm and relax as there will be a lot of pressure on them,” said Khoabane.
