Soccer agent Mahlakgane has told Goal.com that his players Khune and Tshabalala must play for the country first and put their personal ambitions asideAll eyes and European scouts will be glued on African players since the Africa Cup of Nations has been used a talent identification program for many clubs around the world.
Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala’s agent Jazzman Mahlakgane believes that his players must just focus on making the country proud and everything will follow.
“The number one priority for any of the Bafana players should be to make the country proud by playing as a team and ensuring that the team advances to the finals.
“Even when I spoke with them, I was very clear that they must focus on doing well for the national team. I told them that this should not be about them but they must remember that they are the ambassadors of the country,” said Mahlagkane.
Both Khune and Tshabalala have been in excellent form for the national team, but they have not been lucky in making moves overseas. Mahlakgane said his only concern is that the players excel.
“Look, we would love them to go and play overseas but, hey, they need to prove themselves here. By the way you cannot focus on two things at once and expect to get great results. For now they must put all their effort and concentration on lifting the trophy high for Bafana,” he said.
The agent also hinted that he is very happy to see that all the players look hungry and are determined to do well.
“Some of the players that I spoke with, you could feel that they are very much passionate and hungry for success. I don’t think they will be individual players who will want to show off, but they will play collectively as a team, and by so doing the team might do well,” said Jazzman.
Both his players impressed during the Fifa 2010 World Cup and Jazzman said he hopes that they will continue where they left off, but most importantly add value to the entire team.
